Just wanna highlight that Seattle Public Schools teacher salaries start at just over $60,000, less than half what a new Seattle police officer will make after six months under the new contract.

Cops get bonuses for two-year associate degrees; teachers, of course, have to have finished college.

Get used to seeing that Bruce Harrell TV ad: the PAC that paid for it to be produced just reported spending nearly $700,000 to run ads through election day.

I doubt much of this system is even AI (and therefore more deterministic.) It's a high speed camera and figuring out where the ball is in the image (maybe barely machine learning). I'm all for it.

Harrell is *desperate* to please his donors in any way possible. This is one of the dumbest ways I’ve seen.

This new Seattle women's shelter is unconventional, but it's working Women at Donna Jean's Place can reserve their bed for the next night, indefinitely. No one is required to get sober or apply for housing. Patience is the point.

Providing a temporary bed without making people jump through a million hoops shouldn't be "remarkable," but it is—as the story notes, we invest heavily in shelters that erect barriers to entry, denying access to people who need stability most urgently.

@petebuttigieg.bsky.social Did you even talk with @wilsonforseattle.bsky.social before endorsing Bruce Harrell? All he's succeeded in doing is taking homeless folks' tents. He hasn't actually helped them. They are still homeless. He can't get anything done because he's unwilling to tax the rich.

We have a separate outer heap that uses TLSF for allocations. It allows a dma_capable attribute to influence if the allocation is in PSRAM or internal RAM.

It's the same cost as the FTB table (1 bit per block) and the benefit is huge. It is configurable so small memory systems can turn it off.

If you’re tracking a bill in the legislature, be sure to use a hashtag in the bill number and #waleg to make the conversation searchable!

A new even-numbered years election bill has been filed in #Waleg by Rep. Mia Gregerson. It would allow cities, towns, and special purpose districts to voluntarily transition to even-numbered year elections for elected positions. app.leg.wa.gov/billsummary?...

While we wait to reconvene, here's a quick primer on the bill process: Bills get introduced by sponsors and referred to a policy committee. The sponsor's job is to get the committee chair to schedule the bill for a hearing. Once a bill is heard, the sponsor tries to get it "exec'd" #waleg
