I work with cannabis so thankfully I feel that requires a certain base level of chillness

Saw that my boss had 3D printed calipers a few days back, so over the weekend I asked if he could print me a pair too. Was even able to add my orchid “business” name too 😭❤️

Enter my brilliant idea. After sterilizing the media, I set my pressure cooker on a slight angle while cooling.

Now when I go to sow, I can sort of “wash” the seeds onto the upper side of the media and let the liquid collect at the lower area.

I’m so brilliant hey? 🤣

So when I expel the seed/peroxide solution, even though the peroxide does break down, the seeds are often left swimming as that extra liquid has nowhere to go.

The problem however, is the flasks I use for seeds are pretty small, and I use minimal media because lbr seeds don’t need much. However, because of that I don’t have any sort of air exchange otherwise the media would dry out so fast.

Im so proud of myself 😅 I thought of a very simple solution to an annoying problem of mine.

I sow my orchid seeds dry, which means they need to be sterilized prior to sowing. To do this, I just suspend them in some hydrogen peroxide inside of a small syringe.

My old personal account I rarely use, and my separate “plants only” I pretty much use to keep up with Taiwanese and US Phalaenopsis growers.

I didn’t take any photos because our kitchen is a mess, but made all the media necessary to do Phalaenopsis stem propagation tomorrow!
