(18 x 10) - (2 x 18) = 180 - 36 = 180 - 40 + 4 = 144. I tend to look for "shortcuts" but I'm not sure it's always the most efficient way!

Does anyone know of a peer review experiment where there is a genuine and meaningful attempt to actually improve the reliability/qualty of peer reviews?

I'm not looking for examples of process improvements only.

It would be great if repositories (and, in general, databases, reference management software et al) would ingest the now-combined Crossref and Retraction Watch dataset from the API and start to display these - corrections too not just retractions. It would be a good start. doi.org/10.13003/692...

Homepage - openRxiv openRxiv is an independent non-profit, the new organizational home for bioRxiv and medRxiv, enabling researchers to instantly share groundbreaking findings with the global scientific community.

Big news: we are setting up a new non-profit organization to run bioRxiv and medRxiv. It's called openRxiv [no it's not a new preprint server; it's dedicated organization to oversee the servers] openrxiv.org 1/n

From 25 February 2025, we will be adding redirects for aliased DOIs in the REST API. This means that requests won't return aliased DOIs. Learn what aliasing is and what happens now: https://community.crossref.org/t/adding-redirects-for-aliased-dois-in-the-rest-api/13138/1

TIL that all #rstats packages on #CRAN are now being assigned #Crossref DOIs. This is a game-changer for giving proper credit to package creators, especially when there isn’t a specific paper or manual tied to the package.

Thanks for the tag, it's interesting they want to provide these kinds of incentives. Pubpeer tends to be anonymous and focused on published articles, whereas the ASAPbio crowd review initiative it looking to giving credit for preprint reviews. Both approaches are useful!
