Itโs time to shift the conversation from women โdoing it allโ to using technology to lighten the load and enable the parenting load to be more equally shared.
This is why I built Kiki: to lighten the burden of child admin, so primary carers, especially mums, donโt have to do it all.
At work, this invisible labour affects careers. When one person is the default organiser at home, it limits time, energy and ultimately opportunities.
Real gender equality means addressing the unseen barriers, not just the visible ones.
- Our survey revealed that 93% of mums handle school admin alone.
- The European Index for Gender Equality found that 70% of male partners donโt engage in daily domestic responsibilities.
- Pregnant Then Screwed discovered that mums are 2.5X more likely to request flexible working than dads.
Today, on International Womenโs Day, we celebrate progress. But letโs also talk about the hidden barriers still holding women back.
At home, women predominantly carry the mental load of parenting: tracking school admin, remembering extracurricular schedules and organising their kids' social life.
Hey folks I'm Janice the founder of Kiki, an app that simply tells parents what they need to know when they need to know it by trawling through all the emails they receive about their children.
Can you spare 5mins to help me with some research?
Thanks to everyone for their ongoing support and we're all so excited what 2025 will bring for Kiki!

As a thank-you we'll be randomly selecting some of those who complete the survey to receive a family board game.
Please do share the survey with other parents you know, not only to help us it'll also maximise your chances of winning: the more completions we get, the more games we'll send out :)
Kiki aims to take this stress away and just tell you when and where you need to be. As we enter our next stage of development we need your feedback: survey.getkiki.app
Our survey will only take 5 minutes!
At this time of year, school emails seem to peak with us parents needinh to remember something every day, which is frankly mentally exhausting as we still have our own lives and work to organise too, often with increased pressures and impending deadlines as we take leave over the Xmas period.

Life as a mum and entrepreneur is hard.
I'm just feeling so totally overwhelmed at the moment. No idea when I'll going to wrap Xmas presents or get the tree. Have a list party on Sunday and need to visit my dad in hospital on Saturday.

Their guidance is: "Given that this an occasion for celebrating your success, the dress code is cocktail dresses/business attire."
However I'm neither a dress nor suit kinda gal. I much prefer jeans and a T-shirt!
So I'm a finalist for the every woman awards in their Tech Innovator category and the award ceremony is next week. However I've not a clue what to wear!

And itโs not my fault Iโm off the school mailing list! Meanwhile, hubbyโs inbox is drowning in unread emails.
Parenting is just one long game of chaos management, right? ๐ฅด
Yesterday: A chase email to hubby about the school trip deadline.
Today: Ambushed at the classroom door and then chased again by admin on the phone a few hours later.
Good point! It's much nicer for interactions and appreciation rather than just numbers!
