It appears to show the 1792 boundaries of Washington city, the District, and the Potomac and Anacostia rivers and where indigenous tribes live. It shows the Wacotchtank — an alternative spelling of the Nacotchtank residing in present-day Anacostia. The map also shows various indigenous quarries (Piney Branch, Rose Hill) in Northwest DC.
On #IndigenousPeoplesDay, we honor the Native American communities who first called DC home, including the Nacotchtank, Piscataway, Powhatan, and Pamunkey peoples.
We pay tribute to their strength and ongoing contributions despite the painful injustices they have endured.

“Terrible things are happening outside. Poor helpless people are being dragged out of their homes. Families are torn apart. Men, women, and children are separated. Children come home from school to find that their parents have disappeared.”

Yes, for sure: many Black middle class households began departing in the mid-late 60s.
In the previous tweet (tweet…? 🤷🏽♀️), I meant that - by the 90s/2000s - my relatives were attributing white flight to the ‘68 riots, despite having lived through the phenomenon in the 50s. Memory is interesting.

I don’t think so. That line says “Real Senate opposition,” not Beal.
