"The number of mothers sustaining a third- or fourth-degree perineal tear while delivering their baby has risen from 25 in 1,000 in June 2020 to 29 in 1,000 in June this year." Worrying, given the introduction of the OASI care bundle.

Maternal, newborn and infant health: priorities for improved outcomes The UK has shown significant disparities in maternal and infant health outcomes, particularly for different communities in England. How can policy interventions ensure safety and improved equitable outcomes?

The UK underperforms on infant and newborn mortality and deep disparities persist.
In response, the government has launched a 10-year Health Plan, including a commitment to co-produce a national maternity and neonatal action plan with bereaved families.
