Our final 500 Yr Diary for this season was a surprising addition - as I suspect was the fact The Well ended up being a return to Midnight. Our musings below. Looking forward to a return later in the year…

Our warmish take below on the latest #doctorwho installment. Light hearted and light weight but the brilliant Freddie Fox does his best to add some gravitas (sorry, mavitas).

31.01.2025 08:12 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 04. It assumes rapid stimulation creates engagement. But for me it just means I don’t care as much about what’s happening on screen. A bit more breathing space and a lot less music would be a great way to improve these edits.
17.01.2025 10:08 — 👍 4 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 03. It’s a rapid blur of ‘stuff happening’ with little or no time to actually enjoy what’s going on, or become interested in the characters and properly engaged in the plot line. Without the space to allow your mind to wander into the ‘what if’s’, the magic of the show gets lost…
17.01.2025 10:04 — 👍 5 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 02. There is a place for these shorter, punchier edits, and the colourisation is a delight to see, but the obsession with trying to ‘modernize’ it needs to be dialed back. But above all they make me realise why a chunk of the modern series is lost on me.
