Maybe #horror fans would know this -- is there a name for the moment in a horror story / movie / etc when someone has a horrifying realisation, or makes an awful discovery? Like an evil "aha!" effect. An obvious example would be when the babysitter learns where the calls are coming from.

I'm unsure as to whether women outside the UK should sign.

I'll bet a dollar that past me had suddenly thought of a story idea somehow based on those feet. Thanks a bunch, past me, you could've left me a note!

Always weird when you save a file in the wrong place & rediscover it years later. In 2023 I apparently took a screenshot of the feet of a member of Kpop boy band Stray Kidz and saved it with my tax info. But which boy? And *why*? (A nape or an eyebrow can melt me but I'm indifferent to tootsies.)

As we celebrate the discovery of the exoplanet 51 Pegasi b this week, I'd just like to raise a glass to PSR B1257+12 b, aka Draugr, the actual first exoplanet to be discovered. Nobody counts the poor thing because it orbits a pulsar.

I can't imagine how confronting it is to be told that you must endure surgery & chemo & you *still* might die. Patients facing that must be vulnerable to a false promise of "escape" from their situation.

Luring strangers with that lie is bad enough, but the betrayal of trust here is monstrous.

Reading my own old writing, both the reading part of my brain and the writing part are online at the same time. (Particularly the *re*-writing part.) The result is confusing -- something like semantic satiation.

Shamefully, I've watched more a few police and courtroom videos on the Tube of You. Between that and TV, I know more about the US legal system than Australia's (like most Aussies). How awful to get my head around a principle like "probable cause" just as some branches of law enforcement abandon it.

I installed an ad blocker the day after they invented the thing. It blows my mind how different the experience of the Web is without one.

I wonder if it's meant to indicate her sexual availability: no husband, no boyfriend, no interest in other men, no competition for the viewer's parasocial relationship with her.
