I can't imagine liking The Pogues without the musical and cultural contexts in which they sat. I don't like them as a singular musical entity, but rather as a piece of a larger musical whole.

I feel ya. Once I got used that, my (92 yo) dad (with congestive heart failure and a history of strokes and falling) sometimes would call me and start with "we have a terrible problem." I'd grab my keys and get ready to speed to their aid. "The Nest thermostat isn't showing up in my iPad app."

Totally agree. I would add that we need to make living and working in the US "safe." Healthcare is a huge deal for so many people, and the US seems to be the only "developed" country that treats it as a privilege.

There are a handful of comics I re-read every few years, including Lone Wolf & Cub, Grendel, Watchmen, The Sandman, and Transmetropolitan. Miracleman was the original re-read, and I love it every time.
