So apparently, it may turn out that The Wizard of Oz at the Las Vegas Sphere wasn’t entirely made in AI and Google threw the VFX crew under the bus by claiming it was all done by artificial intelligence.

If true, then fucking yikes.

In Super Mario Bros., the first vertical lift platform in World 6-3 does not have a fixed range like it may seem at first. Instead, it slowly keeps increasing its range, so that keeping Mario on the platform will eventually result in his death.

There's a medical situation I've been plagued with my entire life that, after 38 years of dealing with it, I've finally been able to diagnose and treat. And although I'm a very private person these days and this condition is kind of embarrassing... I want to talk about it, because the ONLY reason I figured it out is because someone talked about it on TikTok. So, here's my part in "paying it forward," because who knows? Maybe you're living with this too. (It's only within the last 5-ish years becoming widely understood.)

You know how, when you need to burp, you just... burp? Yeah, I've never been able to do that. Never ever. The most I've ever been able to do are these little involuntary "gurgles," sometimes.

That sounds goofy, which is why it's a bit embarrassing to talk about. But imagine you just guzzled a soda, and you've got all of that pressure in your chest and throat. Now imagine you can't release it... It's just trapped there. That's been my entire life.

But it's not just discomfort... What usually happens is all that air just collects and builds up, not able to escape, until I eventually have an "episode." Something I dubbed "getting winded," I would start getting painful hiccups, shortness of breath, lightheadedness, bloated, muscle cramps in my jaw... The only thing that could resolve it was lying down, which is not exactly opportune if you're in a public space or driving. I could prevent it most of the time by avoiding things like carbonated drinks, but just the act of eating or talking/laughing a lot could do it. Anything that takes in more air than usual was a trigger. (As an extra fun bonus, it's also largely responsible for the heartburn I've had for 20 years.)

Turns out it's a condition called RCPD, or "no burp syndrome." Essentially, the muscle in my throat that is supposed to relax and open to allow burps to happen? It doesn't and never has.

No one really knows why this happens with some people, but the cool thing is... treatment was insanely easy. They put me to sleep, injected a little bit of botox directly into the muscle (via endoscopy), and stretched the muscle open a bit. And that's it. I woke up and in a few days, I could burp. And I still can, because the treatment is permanent. I've been drinking soda, chewing gum, partying it up... no episodes. It feels like a real-life cheat code.

So, yeah, I wanted to share. It's a bizarre thing I've been battling my entire life... Doctors have been misdiagnosing it as hyperventilation and anxiety. So I'm ecstatic that it's finally behind me and I can potentially help someone else understand it if they have it too.

I do think less of you as a person if you use it even for your grocery list wtf are we even doing here with all this "mental offloading" or whatever, just use your fucking brains, do not outsource the main essence that differentiates you from a rock

If you're using AI to write essays, eulogies, a text to your wife, I do think less of you as a person. Ceding your mental and creative abilities to a machine is an embarrassing thing and people should be ashamed to admit doing it in public.

Like, do an EarthBound remake with claymation worlds but sprites in the same style as the original game? I have to imagine that'd be amazing.
