My sweet furbabies. Aladdin isn’t doing very well. Gonna take lots of cuddle pics and spoil him. You just never know. Clovers hips are just not good. She’s shaking a lot lately when standing and she has such a hard time getting up from sitting or lying. Then there’s the new guy. He’s kinda nuts!

Newly rescued kitty is settling in. We still miss our sweet Gabby. But we will take care of Thatcher like we did her. Aladdin is getting along well enough with him. Thatcher is 8. Welcome home. Day 7 today.

We carved pumpkins yesterday. They look pretty good with lights on a timer instead of candles this year.

Gabby left us on 10/1 and our hearts will never be the same. I especially miss her at night, and when I come home from work.

We saw this guy on the local shelter website and thought he felt like Gabby sent him our way. We met him and decided to bring him home on 10/11. Welcome home, Thatcher.

Little did I know she was very sick and would cross the rainbow bridge 8 days later. I’m heartbroken.

Love your fur babies a bit harder. This sweet little girl crossed the rainbow bridge yesterday at the age of 16 1/2. She was the sweetest girl and I’m so glad we had her for her “retirement years”. Although 1 1/2 years with us wasn’t enough. We love you, Gabby.

Had to give Gabby an emergency bath today after she got liquid poo all over her fluffy back legs and tail. She didn’t seem to care, but once I realized it was she who had left the nasty mess on the floor, I was not happy. 😬 I only learned when I picked her up for a hug and her butt felt wet. 😵‍💫

Did he have a long neck when extended like big herons?

Why is it age appropriate that they know that someone might want to kill them and not that it's ok to Love who you love.

Last harvest from our little garden. Mini cucumbers and sun sugar tomatoes with one cherry tomato. I pulled out plants and will hopefully weed it before leaves fully fall and cover it. It was a decent year. :)

When I feel like it, I can make some damn good food. This weekend I made blt’s using tomato from the local market, and potato dill bread from a local bakery. Then I made a new chocolate chip cookie recipe from scratch that were surprisingly good. I doubled the batch so I have some to share this wk.

This old boy is getting so skinny and sleeps a lot more but he’s still pretty content. We treasure each day. His keg is swollen and the tumor seems to bug him a bit more but not much we can do besides some pain meds and increase his protein and wet food. He’s a sweet boy.

Pure joy in the faces of these two. They no longer go to the same school so we have to organize play dates. Thankfully, he doesn’t live far away. They played hard and were both exhausted after he went home.

Three heavy posts before this. My heart is heavy. My brain is busy.
I do have a lot of love and goodness to be thankful for though. My daughters are amazing. They are healthy, smart and thriving. My other cat seems to be doing well enough. I have a good job, safe home, good health, and am loved.

My doggy is 14. Her hips are terrible. She is panting a lot and you can tell she has rattly breathing. She recently went deaf and some evenings she seems a bit senile. Please send some love as she navigates her days. She’s my best buddy. I’ve had her since puppyhood.

My cat is 16. He has a large tumor on his back knee. Not much we can do. He is losing weight and pooping a lot. He seems in good spirits. Still cuddly and talkative. Send good vibes into the kittyverse for us please. He’s such. Good boy.

My dad has an abdominal aneurysm that needs urgent repair. Without, he could be unalived at anytime. With the repair it could be 80% successful and give him another 5+ years. That is, if his ailing aortic valve that was replaced almost 10 years ago can hold up. I’m sad and scared. I love him. :(

I stand with Chicago. Block ICE and F Trump and his cronies. Stay safe, everyone!

School starts next week so open house was tonight. My girls love school and are excited.

This is me. Nothing fancy. Plain Jane. But genuine and reasonably content. My kids are pretty awesome. My pets are simply the best. And I’m doing great as a single mom. I’ll call it a win.

Sometimes I feel a bit lost or lonely… not having really close friends, not having much time to do stuff kid-free. But then I remind myself that my “era” must be this mom era I’m living. Because I’m a damn good mom and knowing my kids love and trust me trumps everything. I’ll be ok. :)

Happy international cat day! My sweet rescues are both 16. Aladdin (orange) has a tumor on his leg. Gabby is skin and bone and quite a disaster. But they are amazing little loves.
