Pubs are a thing of the past, so we need fewer of them. Those that survive will do so because of location and good food. Still a lot more need to go.

Nah, can't hold back the tide, young people don't do pubs. Too many other things on offer compared with my youth, fitness clubs, sports access, gaming, TV. Why would they want to go to the pub to sing on Mothers Kellys doorstep. Trendy bars, that's a different matter, and restaurants maybe.

If we weren't robbed blind by the greedy energy and water companies maybe we could all afford to put more into pensions and retire before state pension age and free up jobs for young people. Work til you drop.

The only answer that doesn't play to the greed of this industry is nationalisation.

Well we're going to have to pay for that one way or another, who will invest other than the public via bills or taxes. We've given them money for decades only for it to disappear. At least if it is nationalised the money will get spent on infrastructure. If we bail them out it will go offshore.

Ok how about charlatans, is that better. They should be investigated by the SFO. The regulatory framework is not punitive enough to stop them filling our rivers with pollution whilst at the same time taking huge amounts in dividends.

Why have we got to compensate criminals.....but if it costs £100bn it will anyway, but will end up in obscene salaries and dividends if it stays in the private sector, either raided through the taxpayers or directly into water bills. Water with a profit motive is never the answer.
