The mission of Coventry Cathedral is an enduring symbol of πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§πŸ‡©πŸ‡ͺ reconciliation.

President Steinmeier was greeted there by HRH The Duke of Kent and laid a wreath in an act of solidarity and remembrance.

This was followed by a service conducted by Bishop Jelley and Dean Witcombe.

You and Dr Montano always complaining about FEMA being inside DHS! Well, this just proves it it's better that way. Yes, don't worry I'm being sarcastic, you know we Brits can't help it. :-)

@boldpolitics.bsky.social @zackpolanski.bsky.social Regarding your recent conversation with Rory Stewart and Campbell asking who we are serious economist friends are, I think perhaps Prof Hickel would count, alongside Tim Jackson, both have thousands of citations and the requisite advanced degrees!

"the episode itself lasted no more than an instant–a gunshot, say–but the traumatised mind holds on to that moment, preventing it from slipping back into its proper chronological place in the past, & relives it over and over again in the compulsive musings of the day & the seething dreams of night."

Dear, Baroness @nataliegreenpeer.bsky.social, I know you care deeply about pesticides, so may have already seen this. I'm not a biologist, but this goes against the norms of publication ethics, for sure. According to the Editor's retraction notice, the conclusions themselves may be invalid.

It is with profound sadness I heard that my long-time friend and colleague, John Fox passed away this week.
He was the author of {car}, {effects}, {Rcmdr}, ... and numerous influential books. I will miss him greatly.

Β£30k now. And I think it's only been open for a couple of hours. He said we would come! Reminds me of what @rachelmillward.bsky.social said about the power of fivers at conference. I will be contributing one of my own ASAP.

Okay, but as a certain gentleman we both admire might say: "we pushed them this far (i.e. mansion tax, two child benefit cap removal, now let's push them off the stage" Don't you think?

Hi Cllr @greenpartyemma.bsky.social Some of this is in your patch, right? If so, do you have any news on #LevelBoarding? If we are talking about station modernisation or retrofit, it would be a great thing to include. Can't just wait for new rolling stock. Yes I am one of those people now!

Alice Wong, β€˜luminary’ writer and disability rights activist, dies aged 51 Daughter of immigrants advocated for people with disabilities to have full autonomy over their lives

So sad to hear of the passing of Alice Wong over the weekend. Every bit a "luminary," her books and blog shaped my thinking about myself and others. The world has lost a pioneer of disability rights activism. There is so much more I could write, truly!

The BBC is under scrutiny. Here’s what research tells about its role in the UK The BBC is the most widely used source of news in the UK. It has lower reach among the young and the less formally educated.

We've just updated this piece on what academic research says about the BBC's role in the UK

So many datapoints relevant to this week's discussions. Perhaps of interest @benansell.bsky.social @stephenkb.bsky.social @michaelsavage.bsky.social

Even as a Brit, this brings a tear to my eye (stiff upper lip and all :-))! Here's hoping that a certain newish party leader on our side of the pond with the same first initial can replicate some of this. Certainly merits the comparisons, IMHO.

Very compelling evidence that the extensive covariance of diverse psychopathology is not an artifact of cross-sectional factor analysis.

They show extensive "co-morbidity" across generations and within-person, over time.

Studies of only the U.S. should be forced to include β€œin the United States” in the title.

The U.S. is in many ways one of the worst countries to generalize upon and the (often implicit) claim of universalism is based on either chauvinism or ignorance (or both).

Ms Tuchman raises a very important point. However as one would expect, the situation in the nations of the UK is different. You can find more UK specific information about naloxone, where can get it and how to use it, here: naloxone.org.uk

We academics sometimes obsess over citations, but I am truly delighted to think that some of our work may be of direct benefit to Ukrainian refugees with disabilities, and those who come after them. Improving the situation of the populations I study, is the reason I began this work.4/4
