Will White was born #OTD in 1854. He had a 2.33 ERA in 20 starts for the 1889 #Bisons. Won 229 major-league games. Brother of Baseball Hall of Famer Deacon White. He’s the founder of #Buffalo Optical on Delaware Avenue and is buried at Forest Lawn Cemetary.

Bill Killefer was born #OTD in 1887. He hit .251 while catching for the 1911 #Bisons. Played 13 seasons in the major leagues and then managed the Chicago Cubs and St. Louis Browns. #Buffalo

Happy Birthday Jeurys Familia. He made 28 starts for the 2012 #Bisons and went 9-9 with a 4.73 ERA. Appeared in 561 major-league games over 12 seasons. #Buffalo

Happy Birthday Fernando Martinez. He played in parts of three seasons in #Buffalo. Hit .290 with 8 HRs and 28 RBIs in 45 games for the 2009 #Bisons. Played in the majors with the Mets and Astros.

Fred Fussell was born #OTD in 1895. He pitched in four seasons with the Herd, including 1932 when he went 15-8. Pitched in the majors for the Cubs and Pirates. #Bisons

#OTD in 1884, the National League #Bisons used 21 hits to defeat the Providence Grays 13-7. Third baseman Deacon White (pictured) went 4-for-6 and Jack Rowe went 3-for-6 with a triple to lead the Herd.

Harry Heitmann was born #OTD in 1896. He won 43 games for the #Bisons from 1920 to 1923. Went 17-12 with a 3.19 ERA for the Herd in 1921. #Buffalo

Dutch Meyer was born #OTD in 1915. He played three seasons with #Buffalo. Hit .305 with 20 HRs and 72 RBIs for the 1941 #Bisons and followed that up by hitting .285 with 20 HRs and 89 RBIs for the Herd in 1942. Played in the majors with the Cubs, Tigers, and Cleveland.
