Smarthistory β The altar tabernacle, Pauline Chapel, Santa Maria Maggiore, Rome
Pope Francis will be buried in the Pauline Chapel at the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore in Rome, near a famous icon lavishly installed at the high altar. If you want to learn more about that space, check out my article on

Any historians of early modern medicine know of any sources that describe the epidermal appearances of corpses and cadavers? Especially the color of the skin in dead bodies? (There's so much on dissection but little on the outside surfaces of bodies.)

Saw Michigan thump Northwestern 50-6 on Saturday and then the Berlin Philharmonic rip off an astounding performance of Brucknerβs 5th on Sunday, all within 24 hours and two miles of each other. Ann Arbor is unique man.

YES THIS!!!! Sometimes we get swallowed up in institutional turmoil and we completely forget--or worse, doubt--that our scholarship has an impact. Always do this.

IU beat Michigan in 2020. But nobody remembers a thing about that season of college football. But otherwise, yeah, it's been a while! There were a couple of close ones in the early / mid 2010s -- even early in the Harbaugh era at Michigan when Indiana for whatever reason played M tough.
