It is a fascinating story, though v sad too. Photos & articles on the internet. So traumatic - the kids that were rescued were given a hero’s welcome but pretty much told “You’ve been through a terrible time but you have to put it behind you and get on with it”. No therapy or anything!

What made it even more fascinating was an elderly gent in our village was one of the surviving children on that lifeboat & I had done an article from his recollections & newspaper accounts etc for our village magazine 2 years ago. Worth a Google whether you read the book or not.

The Last Lifeboat by Hazel Gaynor. A novel based on the story of the ill-fated SS City of Benares which was evacuating 100 under-privileged children to Canada in 1940 & torpedoed.

Hmm but it did feel strange. And many people did vote Democrat but again their system means it can look like not many did. A bit like our FPTP. 2019 Lib Dem’s vote share increased but we lost a seat!

Absolutely! If I see a mask, I assume the wearer has a good reason. I wear a mask if I have a cold/suspect one if I have to go out. Wear a mask on waiting rooms & on planes, they are rhe worst!

2/ me not to, always hated a fuss. Made them promise to wear helmet & tell me if happened again. Still feel guilty I didn’t write to the Head about it. Was relieved when they began to walk to school with friends!

Just so angry about this and upset for her and all the many in this position. WTAF?? School should be cracking down hard on this bullying! And sending a clear msg to ghastly parents as well.

Just such a horribly early start! Don’t know how you cope. I used to hate 6.45am! Had a local job that started at 9.30am & used to
Get up at 8am, that was nice! Hope day is ok, at least it’s dry.

2/ looked all wrong, looks much fresher with this all round. You can just see the third window not yet done.

Felt bad replacing the original wooden windows with PVC but just too expensive & high maintenance. Pleased with the look & quality though.

Thank you, we do too, very much a Somerset colour & goes beautifully with the ham stone. Called Agate Grey. Cost a fortune, you can’t buy it off the shelf. Only problem we have two massive areas of soffits to do.

So pleased as we had windows replaced with light wood effect so the dark surrounds /1

I prefer podcasts when I am doing things with my hands eg ironing, housework, crochet. Trouble is sometimes I can’t find something that takes my fancy.
