Yes..I think so as well. There aren't really any close family that can help locally so it really is down to what services they can set up. We will go over to see her when we can but can't really do much day to day.

Yes..it's been like that for years. However I was impressed last time she went home as within 2 hours they had organised home O2, nurse 3x day and carer in the morning. She's on her own so the only person who can refuse to go is her. And she will if it isn't right.

Good morning all. So yesterday's news is that the hospital now hope to get the MiL home. I think the Consultant came in Monday morning and changed her care-plan! Probably about the best option as I think if she is going to die soon she would prefer to be home. Sunny week ahead here.

Afternoon. Just the tail end of the rain here but a shame for the neighbour's farmers market. OH has left for UK for overnight visit to see his mum. I'm resting. Heard that a former colleague from C&W hospital has just become the Archbishop of Canterbury.๐๐. (Not that I can remember much about her).

Sorry for late arrival..had to go to French class and had a lot to think about. MiL not doing too well. Not sure how things will progress. Hospital are a bit vague. She does not want to be resuscitated if it all packs up . Bit grim. Maybe visiting UK sooner than I thought.

Gordon still has a slightly snotty nose but is generally better. He got used to his medication. Smokie's abscess is pretty much healed. We are just keeping it clean. We are hoof picking daily and applying zinc oxide cream to all their itchy bits and Smokie is getting much easier to handle.

Morning all.I can't believe how quickly September seemed to go as well. Sunny day here. We have installing sheep fence for our neighbour. He provided the mesh, we said we'd install it. Harder job than it seemed but YouTube showed us how! Today I am off shopping once horses are done!

Happy 1st October. September seemed to fly by. MiL is back in hospital as her blood pressure has plummeted and she has an abnormal heart rhythm. She is understandably rather upset. OH not sure whether he should fly back but feels a bit odd as she is not dying but then again she might soon.

Morning al. Dr's appointment later. This afternoon we'll be putting up our neighbours' sheep fence for him! He is busy preparing for a big weekend welcoming all the farmers from 'L'amour est dans le prรฉ '. He was a participant in this reality TV show last year and it has a massive following.

Morning ORCs and welcome to Monday. Misty start today, neighbours' flock of sheep in the field. We removed them 3 times over the weekend. First time we were on the mountain bikes when we noticed them so we herded them off that way. One time I went with the dog, who mostly ate sheep shit. Annoying.

I always used to find September a struggle when I was working. The shorter days sap energy. Usually lasted until the clocks went back. I still find it hard but it doesn't matter so much now we are retired.

Morning SORCs. We might finally get out on a bike ride today! Horses are good. Gordon spat out his medicine that cost me 130 euros. I guess he doesn't like menthol. Smokie's hoof is improving. MiL stable at home, although 2 weeks of bed rest has not helped her mobility. Have a good weekend.

Up early for French class. MiL is getting more help than we first thought. Nurses 3 times a day and a carer..I think maybe she isn't a very reliable witness! Still, we are happy. We know long-term the outcome can only go one way, but it would be nice to think she can regain a little independence.

She has to use the O2 all the time, but she has to turn it all off 20 minutes before she does any cooking apparently as she might be highly combustible ๐คฃ.The fire brigade and ambulance service already know that she is on O2. Hopefully this will stop her driving.
25.09.2025 06:25 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0
Morning all. MiL surprised us by going home yesterday. Home O2 was set up and she may have declined care package. Her brother collected a bottle of O2 from her house and then drove her home, bought fish and chips for tea. Her neighbours got some shopping for her. She was tired but happy.

I think she has visitors, so they could. Yes the hospital has discharge coordinators, OTs etc but the reality is there are a shortage of people to actually provide the care so it can take a while to set up.
