This is a fun time to mention thermos's exist, those and the insanely priced temperature controlled mugs. I own one and let me just say, being able to come back to my coffee after forgetting it for an hour and its at the perfect temperature is still weird as fuck to me, but its so nice too.

its a question of when and how it cools, if it cools slowly it will taste worse, if it cools quickly as is the case with iced coffee it tastes better as it traps the flavours better
