We should get to decide how we protect ourselves at demonstrations.
But Government plans to restrict face coverings at protests could impact any of us.
We need your support to make sure this law doesn't go unchallenged

After years of calling for safeguards, the consultation is welcome.
But they've already proposed expanding its use - before the public has even had the chance to tell them what they think.
Gov must HALT the rapid rollout of this tech and ensure robust laws are introduced first.
Earlier this week, Liberty Investigates uncovered that hundreds of children were being tracked on facial rec watchlists.
Some forces haven't kept records as to why children have been included on lists in the first place.

Five years ago, we won the world's first ever legal challenge against police use of facial recognition tech.
The Court ruled it breached privacy, data protection, and equality laws.
Currently, there are still no laws governing it's use.
Walking past a facial recognition camera is like showing your ID at a checkpoint.
Something most of us wouldn't want to do on our way to the shops.
Yet every police force in the UK is using it - at festivals, football games, and on our high streets.
The Home Office has finally launched a public consultation on police use of facial recognition tech.
We went on BBC Breakfast to make clear the need for robust safeguards to protect the privacy rights of all British citizens.

The facial recognition consultation is a welcome opportunity to call for robust safeguards around it's use.
But this must come first - and the govt must HALT their rapid rollout of this tech.

We'll be responding to the consultation and calling for robust safeguards that limit how police can use this powerful technology that can ID any one of us.

UPDATE π¨
The govt have launched their long-awaited consultation on police use of facial recognition.
But they want to expand it to every town centre.
Why are they making this decision before the public has even had the chance to tell them what they think?
www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/crim...
This is extremely worrying.
A public consultation on how police use facial recognition tech is coming imminently.
Police forces must HALT this rapid rollout until laws and safeguards are in place to protect the rights of the British public.
