An (edu) fad's purpose is what it does
Not long ago a drive emerged against "fun" lessons. The push was to rid the focus on fun and return it to subject knowledge itself. Soon followed the argument that students had to accept boring lesson...

...and not what its authors thought it would do

Yes, I get that...when I am marking or reviewing PG students' writing, I try to 'hear' the narrative, which I suppose is what is meant by academic voice

Hello to all new followers. I am interested in opening up a conversation, possible research project about educators who engage with research who had previously engaged with science research, pls do get in touch if interested.

Thanks yes I have been looking at the lit inspired by the post. I like the horse analogy but was pondering if it would only work for “wild” horses & how this might link to schools

The control conditions still "work", they produce learning just not as well as the studied effect. Effects do seem to reduce over time. If studied effect eventually converges on the control effect performance, then over time how can we tell if our intervention had impact?
