Today I was awakened by a cattle drive outside my back window. A new experience to add to my list. The Cracker Cattle herd needed thinning so several are being auctioned to other herders. I was quick enough to get a few shaky shots before the corral. Very interesting.

This fellow is a young injured wild stallion from Payne's Prairie State Park,Fl. He's been isolated in a corral for treatment of an ugly wound (possible bite) on the left side of his face. Once he is healed, he will once again be released to the prairie. All our wild cracker horses are descendants of horses brought from Spain during their early exploration of the Americas.
This is just one of the thousands of duties rangers attend to depending on the park. They wear a lot of hats.
New here. Living a state park volunteer life to remove myself from the rat race. I will be posting a lot of photos from the park I am residing in at the moment. It's a nomadic life for my Yorkie, Lorikeet, & myself in my vintage Winnebago Chieftan. I've never been as content in my 73 years as now.
