This is correct and also really sucks. Gerry was clearly a better pick than Red but we still don’t know how much better.

But hiring another “in program” hire isn’t going to fix this.

All this is just sad. I am not even angry anymore. I’m just apathetic. About Syracuse Basketball.

And to be crystal clear again, Boeheim’s failures do not excuse Red from being one of the worst major conference coaches in America and Wildhack from hiring him.

I’m not saying he’s the only reason because it’s very clear Red was a terrible hire.

But Louisville never got “THAT” mediocre/bad before they completely tanked.

We were a mediocre program since the dayton loss.

Jim Boeheim is an icon, a hall of famer and the biggest reason why Syracuse Basketball became a big time program.

He’s also a major reason why Syracuse is in the mess it’s in now.

Both can be true.

That’s irrelevant if the program doesn’t crater.

Not telling Boeheim to buzz off after the succession plan failed is no small reason why they're here.

Combined with the aggro penalties in 2015, it absolutely wrecked the program.

I put ZERO on football on why Syracuse is bad in basketball.

Football is the reason Syracuse is in the ACC full stop no argument.

But the program started cratering in 2015. A couple of cool tourney runs papered over the fact that Boeheim lost his fastball in a lot of areas.

Let’s make one thing crystal clear because I’m starting to see a lot of terrible takes.

Leaving the Big East did not make Syracuse Basketball bad

A mix of terrible coaching, poor recruiting and abysmal talent development, combined with an inability at the admin level to change made Syracuse bad
