The Blue Jays went from last place in 2024 to game 7 of the World Series. They showed they could hang against a team featuring the Greatest Player Who Ever Lived. Then, a bunch of Weird Baseball Shit happened, and their luck ran out. That’s the way it goes, sometimes. That’s baseball. So it goes.

Do I wish that the outcome was different? Well, yeah, of course. Am I going to want to disconnect from baseball for a while? Very much! That’s okay. That’s how it goes.

The 2025 Toronto Blue Jays were a collection of circumstances that will likely never happen again. Their season was already a success well before last night, and what happened last night didn’t change that.

There’s a Calvin and Hobbes strip where Calvin is screaming over the course of several consecutive panels, and that’s going to be me internally for the next six innings. Let’s Go Blue Jays.

The tarp continues to be on the field at Isotopes Park. It’s raining, but the Sun has broken through to the West, bathing the clouds in a golden/pink glow. Oh, and there’s a teeny stump of rainbow.

Update: don’t think I’ve ever quite seen a sky like this at the ballpark…

A white tarp covers the infield of Isotopes Park, while dark grey clouds lurk ominously in the distance. Those clouds, though, aren’t why the tarp is out; instead, it’s due to the storm coming from the West (behind the camera). Bottom line: this does not look good for Homestar Runner.

Not a great start to what is ostensibly our last Isotopes game of the season …

My fingers have long been trained by muscle memory to type the word “test” for data-creation purposes, but today I learned that if your hand shifts down the keyboard juuuuuust a little bit, that becomes “twat,” which makes me hope no one comes looking at this data too closely…

I read that they wanted to bring their fancy pitch machine on the road, and the powders (among other things) had to get jettisoned to make that happen. But then they’re not wearing them at home, either, so… 🤷🏻‍♂️
