For the people who asked, I basically use this recipe with two adjustments.
1. I don't microwave onions because that way lies madness. I brown them *jabs finger* like a normal person. (in ghee then pop into the blender with water and oil.)
2. I use fresh spinach. glebekitchen.com/nearly-resta...

Waking up to news 🚨 that 6 (!) Roman statues were stolen from Syria’s National Museum, in Damascus, on Monday. No details on which statues yet, but I had a few pics below from the GRB gallery with the famed Al-Lat Athena. Heartbreaking news.

Velveteen vs. the Early Adventures eBook Subterranean Press creates readable art, publishing limited editions and groundbreaking original works of science fiction, fantasy, and horror.

This gorgeous, signed, hardcover edition contains the full text of the first two Velveteen books, and is over 500 pages long. The physical edition is $95, which I know is hefty, but it makes a great holiday gift. The ebook edition is only $7! subterraneanpress.com/velveteen-vs...

Expect the fascist repression to get a lot worse now.

Recall that the abductions to El Salvador began hours after Democrats surrendered the last time.

for the deal

and which
is probably
caving
to fascism

Forgive me

A reminder, since someone just @'ed me in error:

If your Angus be King, he's a quis and a ling.

If your Angus be Johnston, he's not the senator from Maine, so you shouldn't yell at him about his decision to cave on the shutdown vote.

The original Dem demands were:
1) Permanent ACA subsidies
2) Medicaid funding restored
3) No more blank checks for the regime (rescission)

They dropped Medicaid immediately. Went silent on rescission. Cut back to 1 year of subsidies on Friday. And surrendered today.

The Senate Democrats!

I don't think the Senate Dems understand yet that because they're caving without having actually gotten anything from the Republicans, the meta issue they're voting on has swung to "At the end of this, does America have a King?"

And a number of fools just voted yes.

I am JUST old enough to have caught a taste of the Before Times as a young adult, and yeah, I have pretty much universally found that under-30 LGBTs *literally do not believe you* when you tell them how significant the turnaround has been, and HOLY HELL does it leave me frustrated at times.

My family has been without half our income for 40 days. It has been.. very hard.

We are willing to feel that pain so people can have health care next year, or to undo these illegal recissions.

We are not willing to have been put through this for NOTHING.

Regular reminder that Axios stories saying Dems are about to cave are likely sourced from GOP staffers trying to make it happen.
Doesn't mean it definitely won't happen. But it's like those NYT stories that Harvard is considering caving (they haven't). The anonymous source was trying to manifest it.

A Steam announcement which reads: Starting November 15th, 2025, Battlestar Galactica: Deadlock and all its DLCs will no longer be available for purchase on any platform. This marks the end of an era for our space fleet, and we want to give everyone a proper heads-up to grab the game while it’s still available.

If you already own the game, don’t worry – you can continue playing it without any restrictions, exploring the galaxy, commanding your fleet, and completing missions at your own pace.

We’re incredibly grateful for all the players who have supported Battlestar Galactica: Deadlock over the years. Your passion, feedback, and dedication have helped shape the game and keep the fleet alive in the hearts of our community.

For any questions or support, please reach out to us via our official channels – we’re always happy to help.

I assume this has to do with licensing and the new BSG game that is coming out, but BSG: Deadlock is honestly one of the best space-capital-ship tactics games I've seen, so I'd suggest frankly grabbing it before the Nov 15 cutoff if you can.

It sucks that video games 'vanish' like this rather than being preserved. BSG: Deadlock is a game whose mechanics ought to be imitated and replicated - there's not a lot like it and it is *very* good.

Snag it while you can if you like that sort of thing.

Promotional image of Oscar Isaac as Victor Frankenstein and Jacob Elordi as the creature standing back to back.

I really loved GDT’s Frankenstein, but I will warn people it makes the subtext of childabuse and parental neglect text.

Victor is both verbally and physically abusive similar to how many kids, especially disabled ones, are abused.

Be careful and pass this on to anyway who might be impacted.

Fedora man unmasked: Meet the teen behind the Louvre mystery photo Fifteen-year-old Pedro Elias Garzon Delvaux has become an internet sensation after an Associated Press photo captured him outside the Louvre on the day of a crown jewels heist.
