People worrying about AES not being secure enough while not even using SMB encryption or even signing from the 2000s.

On of our pentesters during an assumed breach test said in their 2 years in the industry which they said was not that long but this was the first environment they saw with SMB signing forced on everywhere and not missing on like a ton of machines.

At least last I looked it was not even a majority of crops that went towards feeding humans. Of course some of that goes into pharmaceuticals and would stick around. But seems like a good place to start for a more sustainable industrial agriculture, rather then tossing it all out.

Tends to make me the odd one out that I don't think we should throw out industrial agriculture. Top US crop is Corn and the majority is used for food for cars and that only exists due to government mandates. Of course the second big waste of it is on animal agriculture.

Problem is the LLM people decided to shove their chatbots into the same category as all machine learning to help process datasets that they conflate them. LLMs do pretty good at translation and been great for talking to people online. Using them as a typing accelerator is pretty nice for programming

While obviously these conditions have existed, but i think it made it easier to fall into them when you don't have all these small micro exposures happening.

I blame the rise of people having stuff like agoraphobia/anxiety disorders on the lack of in person contact. Our lives used to be filled with lots of little exposure therapies, to get groceries, to deposit stuff at the bank, getting directions, going into different stores to purchase things.

One might be able to make the case ah but without that massive demand for corn for car food the price will collapse, which is true for probably a year or two, but even at record high corn prices people I know who farm are not finding it very profitable to grow.

The move to electric transportation might force an end to cheap to buy beef. Guess this mostly applies to the USA, but it seems like to me the system of factory farms running off distillers grain is living on borrowed time even if the general public continues to want the meat.

I am also unsure what the future CAFOs really have even without regulation, for cattle they are pretty reliant on Ethanol mandates making byproducts cheap making for very cheap feed. Most smaller producers in my family are already chasing the rich, doing it as a luxury good.

A Camry is not far off a Crown Vic in weight either only about 400-500lbs depending on what year we are talking of the post 98. Yes modern compact sedans are getting to be as heavy as full sized sedans from the 90s.

It is only about 400lbs heavier then a Camry, and I wouldn't call the Ioniq an entry level vehicle. I would consider the Ioniq to be a full sized sedan given its similar length and size to what i think is the last American full sized sedan the Crown Vic.

Ioniq 6 vs Toyota Crown both large sedans, the EV Ioniq 6 is lighter then the ICE Toyota Crown. EVs aren't inherently heavier, this tends to skew as cars get larger though. But for sedans the difference can be small.

Even without the regen and reduction while idling, ICEs can only turn so much of the gasoline into moving forward they lose a ton as heat. EVs lose very little as heat. I don't see how this is not conservation at a large level. If I get an EV it uses less energy if everyone had one it would use less

But the mpg calc in the car is off because it ignores idling.

I can get 29MPG on the highway, start and stop and idling can be brutal on mileage, these are areas where EVs can regen and use functionally nothing while idle at a light. My car says i get 16

Even if you assume my trip used 1 gallon of gasoline that is 36.6 kWh used for the ICE vehicle.

I drive 50 semi urban miles to work, I burn 4ish gallons of gas to do this. My ICE vehicle uses 146 kWh to get to work.

50 miles in an Ioniq 5, I get 4 miles per kWh, I take 12.5 kWh to get to work.

For me what is powering the majority of my state atm, Wind. It depends on the month, but it is over 50% wind these days. I appreciate that the nuclear is there, and wouldn't oppose expansion, but renewables seem to get actually built, unlike nuclear.

Plus insulation gets to benefit and lower heating energy costs as well. I halved by natural gas consumption this year with just air sealing my attic and putting in a few fiberglass batts.

My last place the ductwork was uninsulated in the attic i moved into a home that is older and has worse code on paper, but the ductwork is insulated and it drastically reduced my power consumption for cooling.

I feel AC is so bad in some areas at least here in the US because our building codes are shit, south facing windows that don't reject IR. It is not expensive to put R-60 worth of insulation in the attic. I run the AC hard at night when wind and cheap electricity is plentiful, then have it off in day

for management when i gotta give a report, type it in my language then ask it to rewrite it in manager speak and it comes out pretty well.
