Reading Eilberg-Schwartz' "God's Phallus," a critique of masculine based monotheism. Misread a phrase that reads, "The deification of masculinity justifies the social order...(pp 15)" I misread it as, "The defecation of masculinity..."

Umm, either creates quite a mess.

Just finished "Humankind" by @rutgerbregman.com only to find out he has a new book out ("Moral Ambition") that I'm interested in too. "Humankind' is a breath of fresh air. I also believe that there is an inherent desire that people have to do good.

I’m not a fan of social media, but as I work on my book and want to promote my work, I’m starting to explore a little more. Is there anything else out there that’s gaining ground other than X, Meta and TikTok that people are finding interesting?

Agustín Fuentes’ “Race, Monogamy, and Other Lies They Told You.”

I read and occasionally nap. If I could figure out a way to read while napping, I’d choose that in a heartbeat!

I’m a book person too, so I love this. I’ve read 4 in this list and see a few more I’d like to read. Thank you!

Just found out that one of my few favourite fiction authors passed away on February 9th. Tom Robbins, author of “Still Life With Woodpecker,” “Another Roadside Attraction “ and “Even Cowgirls Get the Blues” was 92. Thank you your bizarre sense of humour, Tom Robbin’s!

Just finished @gentlemanjane.bsky.social, Jane Ward's "The Tragedy of Heterosexuality." Very nuanced, it looks at heterosexuality's potential in the last chapter after ripping it up from a queer perspective in the previous chapter.

A few days ago my 30yo stepson lined up behind me at the grocery store. We were talking in line and when I left, he said loud enough for many to hear, “Love you!”
I replied, “Love you too.”
I’m proud we said it aloud in public. I hope more men can feel comfortable enough in public to do the same.

Sometimes the best self-care going to a burlesque performance for the first time in years. Like 1950s pin ups, it’s cheesy, playful and almost edgy in a nostalgically innocent way.

I know I’m late, but as one who is looking for ways to shift the paradigm of masculine identity to something more collaborative rather than competitive, I found Alex Manley’s “The New Masculinity” to be helpful.

It’s amazing how many communication skills can be traced back to good kink/BDSM negotiation skills. Solid boundaries are essential in that negotiation, as is what to do if shit we hadn’t planned for happens.

Nonfiction lover myself. Currently reading “Supercommunicators” by Charles Duhigg. Tried looking for him here, but haven’t found him yet. If you know him from other places, drag him over here!

I’m an American ex-pat in Canada and have one who is also an ex-pat and at least 2 others who are worried. There is also a potential trend to the right locally and and federally.

I get that. I feel energized by 15 or 16 a week, but ready for rest afterwards.

I’m early in my career as a private practitioner. 12 a week is barely sustainable. I don’t think I could handle more than 20.

I looked it up. It's often attributed to Elie Wiesel, the former Nobel Laureate, in 1986, but according to at least one source, the concept has been around since longe before Wiesel was born. It does appear that Wiesel, who was a holocaust surviver, is the one who popularized it.

Can someone remind me who first said, “The opposite of love is not hate, the opposite of love is indifference.”
