can anyone remind me why I loved THE UNBEARABLE LIGHTNESS OF BEING?

...maybe I should do a post about the classics I sought out during undergrad (as a children's lit major who thought maybe I was missing out on something). 2025 me can't recall why I fell in love with some of these books.

I haven't been posting a lot of reviews lately but if you're curious my thoughts on HEMLOCK & SILVER, Krysta has pretty much summed them up here!

Can't believe I only have three books checked out and three books on hold... I'm not calling it a reading slump yet but I'm just not sure what I feel like reading lately!!

An image of the novel "We Came To Welcome You: A Novel of Suburban Horror". The novel image shows three people greeting the viewer, their faces overshadowed. The central figure, a woman in a maroon dress holds a pie that has roots growing out of it and a single eye looking outward. The novel is put against the backdrop of a sepia-toned suburban home. Around the novel are the words "assimilation as horror", "Black, queer and mentally ill", "evil H.O.A." and "Adult Suburban Horror".

Listen its Latine Heritage month. Do yourself a favor and get this suburban horror novel where a butch Dominican has to struggle against an evil H.O.A while fighting a particularly haunted tree in her own backyard. you won't regret it!

Started reading some Sept ARCs this weekend! Finished MAKING HISTORY by KJ Parker (out 2 Sept from TorDotCom) - a story well-suited to its novella length, check this one out if dark dry humour and commentary on the nature of history and truth appeals to you.

Photograph of hardcover books (the four books from the Nevermoor series by Jessica Townsend) stacked horizontally on a white bookshelf. A large mug with an owl in top hat and monocle sits on top of the stack. Little rainbows (like from a suncatcher) are scattered around.
