Still growing stuff, running and generally interested. Probably library chat will happen.

High-Level, Actionable Insights From Watching Doubles Luge For The First Time | Defector To the uninitiated, luge itself might seem a silly sport, given that the average person might guess it mostly consists of holding onto a sled real tight as it goes fast down the ice. Of course, this o...

So jealous of this compared to the mean plans Essex have that is focussed on how many flats they can cram in and how small can the public provision be

The glacial.pace of the reservations service would mean I won't spend much money but I won't get to read what I want either

Not actually a photo of the Down House staff, but probably roughly contemporaneous.

I've been thinking about how Victorian Era scientists accomplished so much work, until I came across this:
The Darwin family lived at Down House with a butler, cook, gardener, coachman, housemaid, two nursery maids, and a governess for the girls.

Never less than 8 servants lived at Down House.

At the Bridge is Into the Woods. Musical reusing and mixing fairy tales. I went as a friend is in the show! I am not a musical fan but the first half in particular was great and others liked the whole thing! I think it has been extended into May

The vast majority of my reading is through reservations. My library has been stripped of books and the chances of me finding what I want by dint of dropping in is minimal

A win but only a partial one as charges for reservations is a major downgrade to the service

Paper craft and strength markers! Knowing an extension adventure card was coming up because it was a slightly different shade of green to the main pack etc etc. spent so many hours playing talisman

STOP ESSEX LIBRARY CUTS!
It’s meant to be the National Year of Reading-hasn’t Essex CC noticed? The first decade of austerity saw Essex Library Services cut its book stock by nearly half a million, so this Β£100,000 cut to the book fund hits an already depleted service. #libraries

I had this on cassette for walkman purposes and later for the car. I trawled the second hand record shops of birmingham for the LPs and 12"s as a teenager. The "Education, entertainment, recreation (live)" album from a few years back has a blinding version of Sub-culture

Dislocated? Ouch! Even a slow trundle can help and frequently using things makes them stronger and therefore happier. Others have said pilates and my experience is that is good news for all sorts of things in middle age but may not be cheap

Eric Ravilious was a virtuoso at capturing everyday scenes and little details from English provincial life. This view (1935) is from the home he shared with Tirzah Garwood at Bank House, Castle Hedingham, Essex.

You could run on your own but I highly recommend club running for motivation and feeling grounded in your town

I think the proposal is everyone gets charged but there is no equality issue as those in deprived communities don't use the service so much anyway. Which is a shabby argument at best
