Not much different from group stage at the men's WC though? One-sided games are the norm, then it gets real at QF stage.

Everyone will not just

If your solution to some problem relies on "If everyone would just..." then you do not have a solution. Everyone is not going to just. At not time in the history of the universe has everyone just, and they're not going to start now.

Now THIS is what a customer-centric app is.

Most banks keep sending out warning emails about impersonation and scams.

Any app can implement this capability with a little coding + backend work (assuming their BE sensible enough): and yet Monzo is the first one I’ve heard do it.

The carrot is that UBI will be great for GDP and the stock market because it's great for business thanks to creating new customers and widening the base of those with discretionary income to spend. It will also lead to more peace and less crime.

The stick is that UBI will likely avoid guillotines.

I have heard that Brits don't want it. Do you need ID in the UK to vote or open an account?

13.04.2025 14:07 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Requiring govt issued ID to vote feels like a normal uncontroversial thing. But people say disenfranchises a lot of people in the US. How do those people do every day things without it? Is it difficult to get one?

13.04.2025 13:56 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Ignorant question: why is requiring ID a controversial recurring issue in the US? In most countries I know, having an ID card (not passport or drivers licence) is nearly universal and also necessary for things like opening a bank account. And voting of course. Do Americans not have/need IDs?

The degree to which people romanticize farming is inversely proportional to their degree of actual proximity to farming and farmers

"Can't express how stress free being open minded is.

Some lesbians use he/him? Oh cool.

Some people have people inside their head and sometimes it's
fictional chars? Sick your brains like a pirate ship they're all working to run.

Some people like being treated like a pet dog? Bark bark bro.

Being fat isn't unhealthy but a perfectly normal type of body to have? Kinda beautiful how different we can all be.

Something doesn't make any fucking sense? Cool, an opportunity to learn. And even if I can't figure it out it's cool we still have mysteries today."

"It's just... idk man. People are weird. Being a person is weird. Society is weird. The universe is weird. Rather than having to "normalize" everything, just accept that some people are weird. So are you. Nothing is normal. the rules are all made up. I once saw a Klingon pushing a baby stroller down the street in toronto. The world is a weird place, man. Just roll with it."

Highly esteemed Mrs. Curie,
Do not laugh at me for writing you without having anything sensible to say.
But I am so enraged by the base manner in which the public is presently daring to concern itself with you!? that I absolutely must give vent to this feeling. However, I am convinced that you consistently despise this rabble, whether it obsequiously lavishes respect on you or whether it attempts to satiate its lust for sensationalism!
I am impelled to tell you how much I have come to admire your intellect, your drive, and your honesty, and that I consider myself lucky to have made your personal acquaintance in Brussels. Anyone who does not number among these reptiles is certainly happy, now as before, that we have such personages among us as you, and Langevin(3) too, real people with whom one feels privileged to be in contact. If the rabble continues to occupy itself with you, then simply don't read that hogwash, but rather leave it to the reptile for whom i

einstein sent this to curie in 1911 when she was being harassed by tabloids. it contains everything you’d want in such a letter:

(1) your haters are trash
(2) you’re a baller, a true queen
(3) i have determined the statistical law of motion of the diatomic molecule in planck’s radiation field πŸ§ͺβš›οΈ

Oh! She has! In at least one interview she talked about the briefings she's received on counter-intelligence. She has made music videos to click tracks instead of audio so it wouldn't leak.
Taylor Swift is a legitimate security expert like almost nobody in the world. She has to be. She's the target.

Are you a feminist? It depends how the question is asked

35% say yes when asked directly
65% say yes when asked alongside a definition
83% say women should be equal in every way
