On this day in 1906, 119 years ago, the Pennsylvania Capitol was dedicated, and President Theodore Roosevelt proclaimed it the "handsomest" state capitol he had ever seen.

Nothing between Philly and Pittsburgh topped the capitol's 52 million-pound dome for 80 years.

I was recently selected by East Stroudsburg University as a Legislative Fellow. It was my honor and privilege to accept this selection and attend the ceremony along with ESU President Kenneth Long and other university faculty, students, staff and special guests from the community.

The U.S. Air Force became an independent branch on September 18, 1947. In just a few decades, it’s become the most advanced air force in the world. Happy Birthday to the Air Force!

Did you know? The first Labor Day was celebrated in 1882 in New York City! Today, it’s a tribute to the contributions of workers across the nation. Enjoy the well-deserved break.

Women’s Equality Day is a reminder that while we’ve come far, we still have work to do. Let’s commit to action, not just awareness.

Did you know? The 19th Amendment wasn’t the end of the voting rights struggle – it was just the beginning. Many women of color continued to face barriers to voting long after 1920 and the fight for true equality continues today.

Please join me in praying for these injured first responders, their families, and especially for the family of Lori Wasko, who tragically lost her life.

I’m relieved to hear that Troopers Perechinsky, Jenkins, and EMT Larson are recovering in area medical centers. This terrible incident is a stark reminder of just how dangerous the job of a first responder truly is—they run toward danger while the rest of us seek safety.

I am devastated by the ambush that occurred yesterday against two Pennsylvania State Troopers. These brave men and women show up every single day, leaving their families behind, to protect and serve our communities.
