Like anything, this isn't a "rule" of course - I can imagine a game that makes me "press A" for my character to suck at piano or cooking 1000 times in a row, and this can be emotionally impactful and can work _in that specific game_, right? This applies to most disliked ideas in games I think

I think it's fine when it's real I guess? Like, if the thing I'm doing requires skill and I, the player, can get good at it, then that's awesome, that's what a game is? If the game makes me do the same "press A" task 1000 times to make my _character_ better at it then I don't like it as much.

Oh ffs: I pressed enter in powershell and it immediately was like "teehee done" I'm going to lose my mind.

I'm only doing this at all because I had the bright idea to try using `zig cc` to do the windows builds of Wizwag.

Made the mistake of trying to use winget to install zig on my old Thinkpad, which has now been "Extracting archive..." for over an hour and a half. This is apparently expected, but it's more like 15 minutes on a modern workstation. lol.

Currently, Wizwag _also_ has background input turned off by default, since it seems to be the norm, and I hope players like me will check the input options.

I always have stuff running besides the game I'm playing, and I'll turn on background events for my gamepad in games that support it. As far as I know, most games have this option turned off by default, but I don't know why, since running multiple _games_ at the same time seems less likely?

which part? '^^ ❤️ the art is all Aseprite, and other than a C++ glue library for Steam API, the game is plain ol' C with SDL3 for the platform layer.

It's cold and snowy back in the hills lately. Just north of Sid's Fork, the townspeople say a strange howling wind comes rattling down off the ridge sometimes. Probably nothing right?

I've been pulling 12-17 hour days a lot lately. Last night I decided to be lazy at 10 PM and replay Freddi Fish from when I was 8, and it was, frankly, awesome. I miss when more games had an ink and paint department.
