But sure if the end goal is to create an asset that will provide investors secure dividends for the next 20-50 years by deferring and nationalizing environmental, social, and Indigenous debts, yes the #oilsands are clearly a winner.

The Athabasca River, Indigenous Knowledge, and Adapting to Danger Downstream Indigenous communities distrust tailings management due to decades of contamination, health impacts, and government-industry dismissal of their concerns.

And this does not even considers the impacts #oilsands have had (and continues to have) on local Indigenous groups that have been forced to adapt to danger, reorienting their whole way of life (contrary to treaty promises protect by the cdn Constitution) share.google/prY7Ut3deEal...

Sector layoffs have been part of the ugly truth in the #oilsands for ten years +. Mergers, acquisitions & "cost efficiencies" have led to thousands of layoffs and the hollowing of the business. Human impact is real as Ft Mc homes are worth half what they were in 2024.
