Pay more taxes, get fewer public services. Not satisfied? Then pay out of your own pocket.

That's the playbook, folks. You've been warned.

Documents related to Summit coal decision raise more questions about Alberta Energy Regulator’s independence Regulator’s CEO sought β€˜input’ from Energy Minister’s chief of staff on a motion to cancel hearings about a proposed mine

Not only did the AER's CEO unlawfully interfere with the hearing process for Summit's Mine 14, he called the Minister's office for "input" pretty much as soon as the application for reconsideration came in. That's a foul.

NDP MLA David Shepherd held very little back as the UCP effectively fired the Auditor General in committee today…

Including highlighting that for a government under suspicion of covering up massive scandals, this only makes things look worse.

My latest in the @edmontonjournal.com on the province’s pre-emptive use of the notwithstanding clause to override the Charter rights to strike…. And to meaningful bargaining… of 50,000 teachers

'Reputational challenges': New poll shows public support for Smith, UCP has dipped amid teachers' strike Response to teachers' strike appeared to sour some Albertans' opinions of Premier Danielle Smith and the UCP, suggests new survey from Leger

β€œSmith’s personal approval has gone down to 38 per cent, a six-point drop from May.

And nearly half of respondents β€” 47 per cent β€” reported that their opinion of the premier has worsened over the past six months.”

Imagine being the leader of His Majesty's government, having HM's representative deliver a vengeful speech from the throne, then tabling Bill 1 (another AB sovereignty act), and then instructing tabling of Bill 2 denying Charter rights to Albertans - al while absconding the jurisdiction?

This is quite the overstatement by Alberta, or at least speculation.
No charter without section 33?
In fact, section 33 was also seen as a way to protect rights. Not to be used pre-emptively, as @ABDanielleSmith suggests.
