US needs to think of something similar. I always thought Affirmative Action was a bit abstract & DEI is stop gap measure. While DEI is still good, we should focus on rebuilding a momentum for Indian type % reservations legislative policy that passes Congress.

This is all good. DEI programs in the end are fragmented & at mercy of institutions with no unified rules or regulations around it. In India, we have a legal mandated 20% of reservations in Educational, Government & Private Employment for marginalized communities. Push back is intense. But it works
