ZEIT: Weil es viele Menschen gibt, die zwar weniger Migration wollen, nicht aber die rassistische Rhetorik und Politik der AfD.
Valentim: Das mag sein. Aber wenn ich die sozialen Normen für Migrationskritik lockere, lockere ich auch die sozialen Normen für fremdenfeindliche Positionen. Und wenn eine Bevölkerung die ganze Zeit mit dieser Rhetorik konfrontiert ist, denken viele womöglich: Die extreme Rechte hat vielleicht doch recht. Das kann einer Partei wie der AfD helfen, über ihr eigenes Wählerpotenzial hinauszuwachsen, weil sie auch moderatere Wählergruppen für sich gewinnen kann.
„Es führt leider kein Weg zurück in die Zeit vor der Normalisierung der AfD.“
