The point about data needs underlining because decisions are being made on the basis of poor data. For example, TRAC returns are used to calculate a key metric for universities and honestly, that data is so noisy it's wearing cymbals on its knees while honking on a vuvuzela

If it's him and Wissa, it means no striker for 6 games in the middle of the season. Can't see it

I always see Cunha on the list as well and I cannot think of a player less suited to Howe's system than a guy who tends to just stroll around until he gets the ball

That's true. I'm still confused about what he's doing right now. Players can force an exit without salting the earth behind them. Alienating teammates, some of whom I assume are friends, as well as coaches who have helped him progress seems ruthless in the extreme

It's a real shame he didn't make his request to leave back in May so the club could prepare properly. He's really made it difficult for himself and the club by waiting until at least three replacements had already moved to other clubs. His agent must be giving awful advice

Same as Gordon last summer. If he ends up staying, sticking him on an improved contract allows both parties to play nicely for the media, claim that everyone is re-committed, and get on with doing their jobs. Then he leaves next summer

At this point, Liverpool fans are the only people in the country that think Newcastle will be able to buy an adequate replacement for Isak in the next four weeks. We've tried and failed miserably. He's stuck in Newcastle for the season now

β€˜Handing in a transfer request? That’s just embarrassing’ – how players really force their way out Playing badly, refusing to go on tour, threatening own goals - as Alexander Isak attempts to leave Newcastle, how do players force a move?

Sure, Liverpool have bought and sold better than any club in the league over the last decade. Over that period, Man Utd have made one good signing in that period and countless terrible signings. It grates that they don't suffer for that

Their revenues are still higher than Liverpool's. That will always give them massive room to manoeuvre in the market. They're probably borrowing to enable cash flow and maybe it'll come back to bite them. But does it ever?

The simple answer is that the EUs immense economic clout is undermined by political dysfunction. Too many countries, too many leaders, too many conflicting interests. Trade is, first and foremost, about politics rather than economics

But the prices they're talking (Β£80m), suggest a player who is ready to go. To me, he looks like a Β£30m project. A Wilson replacement, not an Isak replacement

Man Utd don't have the cash to front a bid. They're stalling in the hope that they can sell someone to enable them to get into the game.

The same fee will be there next summer, he still has two years on his contract at that point and probably more clubs at the table. Doubling his wage would add Β£7.8m extra to the wage bill, which would be paid back even if the club only got into the Europa League

Is it worth a few extra million to retain a 20 goal striker for one more season? If there's no obvious replacement, then the answer is yes, it's worth it. His goals are the difference between qualifying for Europe and finishing 8th

01.08.2025 18:58 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Best all round. His options next summer are greater. Liverpool will be back, Barca will need a striker when Lewandowski moves on, Bayern will be moving on from Kane, PSG could use a striker, and maybe Madrid if Vini Jr moves on as rumoured

01.08.2025 18:46 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Who is the replacement? A striker with a lot of potential, under 25. Liverpool took Ekitike, Chelsea got Pedro and Delap, Man Utd will get Sesko. There's no one left, and Wissa is the Wilson replacement. Isak will go, but next summer looks most likely unless Sesko has a change of heart

It's the standard beneath the top-3 in those leagues that gives me second thoughts. It's easier to rack up good stats against that sort of opposition. I'm fascinated to see how Gyorkeres stacks up in the EPL
