Polish - After adding a few more accessories and re-texturing some surfaces, he's got a lot more personality! I also remodeled the boots and a added a lot of minor details that make him feel a lot more realized as a character.
I don't know what to call him, but I think Zed will do for now ๐ฌ

Texturing cont. ๐จ - I'll make some punctual changes along the way, like reshaping the pants to balance the proportions better after adding accessories that made him a little top-heavy, but getting closer to where I want him! I still feel like it's missing something ๐ค๐ญ

Texturing ๐จ - Since it's very low poly, my method of texturing is simply recoloring faces and make strategic cuts to the mesh to some more details out of it. Depending on complexity, this can break a mesh during rigging, but when strategically placed, it's a cheap and fast way to texture models!

Blocking ๐ฅ- In line with the broader vision, I focus only on balancing shapes and keeping things simple with a very low-poly mesh, that way I can make big changes with little commitment. I also recycle assets from other models like the hands since I know they can be rigged easily โ

Concept โ๏ธ - The idea was a brooding no-nonsense metalhead wearing a casual headbanger clothes, still a blank-slate at this stage which gives me a lot of creative freedom in 3D where most of my ideas really start to shape up(literally). I try to focus on the broader vision here ๐ญ
I don't normally do this, but yesterday was one those "lightning in a bottle" moments where I had an idea for a character and was able to flesh it out from start to finish(?). ๐ฌ I'll post a short thread of how I took it from concept to model. Let's go!

Nobody asked, but the scarf is just just a texture scrolling on a distorted plane (and warped uvs), combine them and you get this really neat effect! Little things like this make me love tech art so much ๐ญ๐คง
