Early career heritage professional from Hong Kong. Currently based in Manchester, UK. All opinions are mine.
Even though I am in a much better position in my career and wellbeing, I still want to shed light this experience, as it seems to be a lesser depicted topic in creative arts (3/3)
02.04.2025 11:52 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Unfortunately, this is a common experience for many young folks pursuing for a career into the sector, and possibly for most aspiring young professionals in all fields in the current world (2/ )
02.04.2025 11:52 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Progress in 28 March 2025. An old figure with big, wavy ginger hair is fiddling with a kneeling young figure in dark clothing.
Close up on progress in 20 March 2025. The old figureβs hair is less rendered but already has rough shadings, and is depicted wrapping around the young figureβs head.
Progress in 17 March 2025. The old figure is in roughly rendered light clothing. Their hair is not painted yet.
Latest update and some WIP for my #oilpainting, produced for my #artistinresidency at the 42nd Street Charity.
It draws a one sided relationship I had with my career pursuit into the museum and heritage sector. At one point, it was significantly detrimental to my confidence and mental health. (1/π§΅)
Also feel free to look through folks Iβm following as theyβre almost all GLAM scholars and professionals!

15.12.2024 20:44 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Fortunately, I donβt see this odd gatekeeping attitude anymore when I talk with scholars and cultural heritage professionals, βcause we all know that our skills are transferable and multidimensional π
03.12.2024 02:14 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0But this really stuck with me, and the attitude is kind of noticeable among my History colleagues in my undergrad programme.
03.12.2024 02:09 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Eventually more of my classmates went and did History and related subjects, including another one (also named Deborah) who went on and do Art History at St Andrewβs.
03.12.2024 02:08 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I still remember the time my secondary school History teacher said, βBut Art History isnβt really History,β when I was the only one in class whoβs going to study History subjects in university.
03.12.2024 02:07 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 3 π 0Iβve started a GLAM freelancers starter pack given thereβs a few more of us now. Get in touch if youβd like to be added. go.bsky.app/46ojXZb

I don't think anyone should have to justify their reasons for ditching one product (Twitter) for another (Bluesky) to *checks notes* people who believe in a free market. It's fine to choose one brand over another because of the values associated with it.

Not all heroes wear capesβ¦but in this case, they definitely do! Nurse capes are iconic pieces of attire & we have nearly 30 capes in our collections. You can often tell where a nurse trained or worked by the style of their caps & capes

Four drawings of court officials in the Justice of the Peace's casebook, 1811. They are sketched in profile, some still wearing wigs. The right hand side of the image shows a small section the following page with some case notes visible.
It's 1811. You've been caught stealing some beans and you're dragged up in front of the magistrate's court. You want the Justice of the Peace to be fair, sympathetic, and focused on your case. You glance at his casebook and he's doodling the other officials.

I agree Peter. Itβs very meditating when cutting glass as I needed to concentrate whilst enjoying the sounds of glass cutting. Itβs a delightful experience!

My first stained glass art piece!
From glass cutting, leading, to soldering - did all the basic stuff!
