what i do for warframe on gamepad is use the R1/RB hold to cast abilities. R1 + Square or triangle for instance.

I ported my custom C++ engine to Linux three weeks ago:
- SDL2 took care of X11/Wayland
- FMOD for audio ftw
- Getting my game into KDE Process Monitor was surprisingly difficult!
- Flatpak is like Docker, and the setup pain is temporary
- CLion is weird
- CMake still sucks

just to provide a counterexample; I've been using linux full time for gamedev for over a year, and my experience has been:
- installation is pretty simple
- drivers, etc, everything worked out of the box
- all the software I cared about using works perfectly
- I never have to use Windows in a VM

im kinda iffy on itch and steam nowadays because of all that paypro bullshit and allowing AI ai slop at all.
