For #OAWeek, we recommend this newly released study by Cordelia Heß. In her book, she studies encounters between Nordic Christians and Greenland's indigenous populations in the Middle Ages and how these encounters changed over time:

Kulturkampf von rechts:
1. Vermeintliches Verbot kritisieren, weil Verbote doof.
2. Selber anderes, echtes Verbot aufstellen.

My plea to parents is to take your children to libraries as much as your complicated parenting schedule can possibly allow. Help your children understand that this resource belongs to them and to the community, and that anyone attempting to take it away is stealing from them.

Can Germany rein in its academic bullying problem? Researchers and administrators are exploring ways to restructure a rigid hierarchy that can breed power abuses.

“There is far too much power in the hands of professors in the German system,” says @leising.bsky.social.

My latest @nature.com story digs into efforts to tackle the entrenched structural heirarchy that enables academic bullies.

Deshalb: Lobt einander, was das Zeug hält! #IchBinHanna

Schaut rein! 🙂
