Just contacted a company we bought a $200 license from in 2018 and asked about transferring the software to a new PC and they said "Yep just install the trial, send the code and I'll send you a new key."

I wish every software company was like that.

You could always schedule one stream per week (even an additional one if you have the capacity) with whatever else you wanted to experiment with, as a start. Nobody owns your content but you.

I'm making more of a point to buy things like treats from local non-chain places. I spend more, so do so less frequently, but I know it's not going to some global mega-corp that would sell my organs to a billionaire for $20 if the option arose.

I had to download a group policy template today to manage NOTEPAD on our corporate PCs.

It contains a grand total of ONE setting; disabling the AI slop generator.

By their actions the result was inevitable. I presume they hoped people would crash on a couch or live in a garage somewhere, but accepting emergency housing isn't something most people do when they have other options. Wilful ignorance at best, intentional at worst.

No private company is going to run this at cost, and a monopoly guarantees extortion. There would have to be multiple competing vendors, but I expect the CoC will just auction the rights off to their biggest (financial) supporter. #nzpol

To the nats though there is very much an upside to these stats, though they probably don't want to say it out loud. Their mates in the corporate world have a plethora of applicants for any role, and desperate people will take poor pay and abysmal conditions. The labour glut is a bonanza to them.

Imagine how many more people with no other options you can overcharge for your slum if you can build "garden sheds" right up to the boundary. Why even bother being a traditional "1 family per property" landlord when you can squeeze in a dozen?

Is this the warmth of the people kicked out of emergency housing in winter to make the number look smaller, and the competency of the "laser focus on cost of living" that has only seen things get more expensive even faster?

Do we have copies of their advertising campaigns and hoardings we can bring out this time around so that people can see they did none of it? People have short memories.

With this government, I doubt they'd tell us. Just sneakily change the law under urgency at 8pm on a Friday or something.

I especially like how the byline mentions them pushing back. They're pushing back against the NZ public who demand action, but not against the fascist US leadership. 🤦
