Today marks the start of a new chapter with negotiations for the next long-term #EUBudget.

Today I presented the Commission’s proposal for the Union’s next long-term budget to the BUDG Committee of the European Parliament.

Just a week ahead of the publication of the @ec.europa.eu proposal on the next long-term #EUBudget, I had the chance to address the @europarl.europa.eu

The MFF – like the EU itself – is a win-win concept. Let us prove, once again, that Europe delivers – together.

Over 12h of meetings at European Parliament today in Strasburg, hearing many voices across political spectrum. The next #EUBudget won’t fix everything, but can show that by working together, we can achieve more - and in many cases more efficiently and cheaper than Member States acting alone.

Together with Prime Minister Dorin Recean preparing for the release of €270 million in EU support for Moldova 🇲🇩 to back its reforms and investment needs.

Mon dernier rendez-vous de la journée à Paris a été avec Amélie de Montchalin, ministre chargée des Comptes publics. Nous avons échangé sur le budget annuel 2026 de l’UE et le futur cadre financier. Il y aura sûrement des occasions d’en reparler — la France 🇫🇷 jouera un rôle clé.

Heureux d’avoir rencontré des représentants de l’Assemblée nationale et du Sénat, dont les présidents des commissions des Affaires européennes et des Finances. Un échange riche sur les priorités de la France 🇫🇷 concernant le prochain cadre financier pluriannuel européen.

I received a strong message from COPA-COGECA on the future of the Common Agricultural Policy in the #EUBudget. We're committed to clear funding, simplified rules, and proper consultation. This is not the first, and certainly not the last, meeting with farmers on the EU Budget.

There is a lot of untapped energy and creative ideas among Europeans.

The #EUBudget should unleash this energy and creativity.

With that in mind, today I received recommendations from 150 🇪🇺 citizens who took part in the ECP for the next long-term budget. Thank you!

Insightful meetings in Austria 🇦🇹🇪🇺 during our Tour d’Europe. From discussions with the Mayor of Vienna and members of Parliament to a constructive exchange with Federal Minister of Finance Markus Marterbauer — strong engagement and practical thinking on the future #EUbudget were on full display.

Today, a busy day with our #EUBudget Tour d’Europe in Austria, starting with Mayor Michael Ludwig, then Members of 🇦🇹 Parliament, and finally Federal Minister of Finance Markus Marterbauer.

Together with Cluj-Napoca Mayor Emil Boc and MEP Siegfried Mureșan, we discussed the future of the #EUBudget. During my recent visit to Romania 🇷🇴 🇪🇺, I saw firsthand how EU investment is driving economic growth.

Meeting with Kyriakos Pierrakakis, Greece’s Minister of Economy and Finance, at a particularly timely moment—just ahead of tomorrow’s European Commission orientation debate on the next long-term EU budget.

We discussed the future #EUbudget, emphasizing the need for greater simplification and flexibility. A budget that unites, not divides.

Next long-term #EUbudget: Instead of talking about a ‘single national plan’, we should speak of ‘national and regional partnership plans’. A modernised Cohesion Policy will be an integral part of the future MFF.

Together with MEP Nikolina Brnjac 🇭🇷, MEP Borja Giménez 🇪🇸, and Isabel Martín-Retortillo Leguina, Director General for European Funds of the Government of Aragon, we discussed housing issues in Europe and ways the EU should engage 🇪🇺

On my second day in Spain 🇪🇸, I visited the University of Castilla–La Mancha in Toledo.

A great example of how EU funds drive university–SMEs collaboration in R&D. Every €1 invested ➡️ €4 generated for the region.

Yesterday in Madrid I met with Vice President María Jesús Montero, Minister José Manuel Albares, and the Joint Committee for the EU of the Spanish Parliament to discuss Spain’s priorities for the next long-term #EUbudget. Energy interconnectors and resilience are high on the priority list.

I came here because I had already heard that if you want to see how wisely European funds can be spent, you should go to Oradea 🇷🇴.

This city is proof to anyone who doubts that Cohesion Policy can support economic development that they are mistaken.

A day full of meetings focused on how the next reformed EU long-term budget can best support Romania’s continued development. 🇷🇴🇪🇺
