I'm still trying to figure out BlueSky, but Canucks, BC Lions, photography, kite flying, guitars, bikes, and I walk at least 2 hours every single day. #FuckCancer

Ugh, that is sufficient Internet/Social Media for one day, time to go touch some grass.

Dead tree reflected in the water at Scotch Pond, Steveston, BC.

I need the right sky, calm winds, tide level, & the boats out of the marina, to duplicate the scene that I saw all those years ago.

It was a beautiful blue sky that day, the tree skeleton was mirrored perfectly.

I thought to myself, "Self, that would make a good picture with a decent camera."

Back in 2018, when he launched that Tesla roadster with the "Star Man" in it, I thought he was a mildly amusing doofus, but I was very wrong how dangerous he is.

Years ago, I was walking by the dock at Scotch Pond, and saw this dead tree perfectly mirrored on the water.

No camera with me at the time, but I've been trying to get the same shot since then.

Need calm winds, low tide, & no boats to get the right angle.

Not this time, but I'll keep trying.

a very small thing, but I usually buy Cosmic Crisp apples, went to get some yesterday, but looked at the label: 'Product of WA State'.

Nope.

Bought Ambrosia apples instead, grown in the Okanogan.

Tasty.

When We Celebrate β€˜Local Food,’ What Gets Left Out? | The Tyee Diasporas produce a vital but unheralded food industry in Canada. Can we make it easier to set up shop and grow? Last in a series.

If we're all taking a moment to celebrate Canadian and local food, then there's no better time to re-post this amazing series by @bychrischeung.bsky.social about delicious local food made by family-owned businesses here in B.C.

I don’t know if the Canucks have the capacity to stop playing anthems before games, and I didn’t like seeing the singer looking shaken up.

A good solution to both problems: play a pre-recorded, instrumental US anthem. Let the fans boo that. No singer.

When my cancer returned in 2013, tumours damaged the nerve branch that goes to my right hand. Since then, it feels like I slept on my arm wrong, and it 'fell asleep'.

The thumb & index feel pretty normal, but the other 3 always feel numb. I can't draw anymore, & my penmanship is unrecognizable.

This is about the 1/2 way point of my usual stupid walk for my stupid mental health. I'll often sit on this driftwood bench, and just watch the river go by, listen to birds & waves.

Just about 90% dialed in the swap from drop bars to swept-back riser bars on the mini-velo that I bought back in Sept. (Heart failure on the same day I bought it)
New shifters/brakes, just about got them fine-tuned.
Went for a short ride on a lovely sunny day, felt good to be on 2 wheels again.

I think I'm going to have to log off of the internet for a bit before the news cycle breaks my brain entirely. Hundreds of millennia of human evolution have not provided us the cognitive tools required to process this level of administrative chaos.
