The common-sense step of extending this consequential public comment period, which began the day before Renee Good's murder, is a concrete way that @mndot.mn.gov can earn back some goodwill with communities harmed by I-94.

Also, every establishment Dem who said illegal immigration was a problem during the Biden admin has some culpability for where we are now.

Yeah, this is pretty much exactly what I thought about when I saw Musk's stupid racist tweet: Minnesotans have spent the last month and a half saying we will die to defend our multicultural community.

Elimination of emissions standards was one of the pretty clear policy stakes of the 2024 election and it received about 1% as much coverage as whether Tim Walz retiring from the national guard after 21 years was cowardly.

in 2017 a popular twitter game was to type a partial phrase then see what your phone auto-completes it with.
this proved so popular that it is now the only business model in the US.

I don't think my fellow journalists quite understand how traumatizing and stressful helicopter flyovers are at this point. Can we please find different ways to cover things?

Impossible to see this story as about the shitty tech or quality of work: this is about capturing someone else’s labor & then (surprise!) claiming it as the company’s property rights

Just a reminder that the UC system was not a party in this litigation. Faculty, staff and the @aaup.org fought on their own. UCLA, and the entire UC system, should be ashamed of themselves, and their leaders should be reminded of their submissives every day.

4/11) In 2025, Delta tested “Fetcherr,” reportedly an AI designed to find the highest price before a consumer abandons a purchase. Delta has called that characterisation inaccurate, but on investor calls, execs hyped the tech as a “super analyst” that would end static prices.

I know a lot of people have said this already, but I can tell you that on the ground in Minneapolis people have been radicalized by what they have borne witness to so fast and so massively that the politics at both the local and state level are years behind the population and where they are at now.

It's unchartered, but we can see the terrain: the territory ahead includes masked secret police taking people to concentration camps but not new vaccines. That's our reward for a system in which fewer than 20 people, all of them deranged and malicious, control over $3 trillion.

Someone has sure already made this observation but the fact they can convert all those empty warehouses into prison camps means they could have converted them into housing, community centers, job training centers or, hell, libraries or schools all along. It’s always a matter of will not resources.

1.) Print is a rent strike.
I laid this out in theoretical terms in an episode of The American Vandal Podcast last month.5 The short version is this: technofeudalism is sustained by rents, which we pay in the currency of attention and identity (our data), and almost anything we do in a digital environment benefits, to some degree, companies who maintain an exclusive right to monetize user data (we cannot monetize it ourselves), further enriching the increasingly authoritarian-minded owners of those companies. It is very hard to buy anything anywhere, including print books and paper products, without generating some surplus value for technofeudalists. It is near impossible to do anything online without doing so.

Please donate using the cash links below. Fuck ICE. Venmo is @morning-person and Cashapp is $moldyturnip. Add a cupcake emoji to the description.
We’re fundraising for bond to bail a community member out of detention. This family runs a beloved South Minneapolis restaurant that was already targeted by ICE. Now one of them has been abducted.
