Made a start on this chap, on the basis I might get him finished before the New Year. Having another go at zenithal highlighting which I always seem to struggle with…. Also got a stack of finished projects which I need to get proper photos of!

Looks mighty fine to me - one thing I like to do with these types of scheme is a (very very fine) overspray of the base colour…seems to help to bring it together if that makes sense

It looks pretty characterless compared to the original, and not a lot different size wise? I do wonder to what extent the interactive doohickeys and water bottle filling station will be out of order within a year or two though

The grandeur of those rural stations was quite something, and look at the jobs and communities they supported!

A few branches now reopened, and more proposed, but they will be bus shelters with an automatic ticket machine, not the stations and staff which formed a central part of their communities ☹️

Indeed they are - I worked in a riverside office in York for 15 years. Saw the river in flood many a time, and completely frozen a few times, but only once saw a line of footsteps all the way across the ice! 😳

I once knew a lady who moved her cafe from Oban to York - when I asked why she said ‘well, you can’t eat scenery’ 😂

Doesn’t sound like you’ll have time, but if you do manage to snatch a little extra, Mont Ormel is great, and Moissy Ford near Chambois is still very atmospheric, AND you can find your very own bits of shrapnel
