That’s so exciting for them! My teen got me back into baseball a few years ago. It offers nice nostalgia while ~everything else~ is going on out there.

I was just thinking about what a fair weather fan I was as a kid. I always loved the Reds as my local team. But when the Blue Jays won, 10 year old me was like “Yeah, I love the Blue Jays!”

Sadly, I did pitch a lot of mine after a house fire in 2000.

The very earliest story I finished was, no surprise, a Cretaceous time warp adventure I wrote at 10 or 11, badly imitating Michael Bishop’s “Herding with the Hadrosaurs.” The first I ever submitted was at 16. That one was a bad imitation of Robert Bakker’s Raptor Red. Consistency! 🦖

We need to replenish the bait in our no-kill traps. This place tends to get so many mice.

The cats flushed out a shrew that had gotten into our house. We had to rig an elaborate containment field with a plastic bin and some cardboard to escort it outside. Cats are still mad they didn’t get to murder today.
