Did people really memorize phone numbers before cell phones, or is that just a movie thing? 2? Questions I was watching some old shows from the 90s and noticed people would just dial numbers from memory - like they'd call their friends or family without looking anything up. Made me wonder if that was actually normal back then? Did people genuinely have all their important numbers memorized, or did most folks keep a little address book or written list nearby?

Pandora!!! I only recently tried Spotify and realized y'all have been missing out on Stations. You pick a song or songs, it creates a station with similar music, and you tune it with thumbs up/down, picking a "mode" like Deep Cuts or Crowd Favorites, or add new songs as inspiration.

A huge part of the piles of shit for me was the absolutely immediate nature of infants' needs. You can't even take 60 seconds to yourself. That part gets better. But at 9 my kid still consumes the vast majority of my attention and absolutely wears me out.

Sometimes I forget how lucky I am in my extremely curated bubble. I don't have a public facing job, so I can keep pretty tight control over the people I interact with, and I sometimes forget how aggressive/violent/irrational some people are to the people around them.

In the last few weeks the energy has really changed. The fascists have lost the plot and more and more people have lost their fear.

Oh wow. That IS extreme, and really scary. I feel pretty strongly about it but not like that 😵‍💫 I'm sorry you have to deal with that.
