Apple could surprise remove Liquid Glass the same way it surprise added U2 to everyone's devices and I'd be first in line to call things even.

One of the under-discussed trends in UX is the shift in product design borrowing addictive elements from gambling, to straight up making gambling products.

Post-ZIRP, the psychological toolkit that was once used for growth (goosing MAU metrics) is now being deployed for revenue extraction purposes.

it's wild how the positive use cases are like "save 5 minutes reading a long doc" and "write a generic email faster" and the negative use cases are "get encouraged to dive deeper in psychosis, misogyny, or suicidal thoughts" and we're still on the fence about overall value

Yeah, same. I also think we need something that isn't just passive archiving after the fact.

I'm more convinced with each passing day that web infrastructure and history needs means of existing outside of corporate ownership.

'Sloppy' Code and Accessibility Issues: The Trouble With Trump's Silicon Valley-Inspired Web Design Project β€œSome of these sites feel like another round of β€˜move fast and break things,’” a former federal web designer told NOTUS.

In September, I (and many other accessibility advocates) reviewed the America by Design website, finding sloppy AI-generated code and accessibility bugs.

@notus.com wrote on it, and also spoke to many amazing folks from @alt18f.bsky.social and @ethanmarcotte.com

Yeah, the virtual cursor might not scroll the page. It's kinda wonky and undetectable by design, unfortunately.

Ahh, gotcha. Yeah, from AT's perspective that is a link without an accName. Would it be possible to shift the `visibility: hidden` declaration to the anchor element instead?

01.12.2025 16:09 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

visibility: hidden; should remove it from the accessibility tree, so it'll only "appear" when that's conditionally removed and the ATree updates. I'd chalk this up to a false positive on the tool's part.

It's interesting, and by interesting I mean really sad that companies are moving away from investing in design systems at the same moment token specs are starting to get formally standardized.

Part of what we lost when newsrooms shifted from dedicated beat reporters to freelancers is the ability to push back/question.

News sites uncritically reprint marketing and propaganda, lending it authority it doesn't deserve and actively contributing to misinformation.

As with Elon, so with Sam.

Why use React? Or, more precisely, why use React *in the browser*?

I wanted to write about this for a long time, but @adactio.com did it first and definitely better. Web frameworks should be invisible to the user, they serve us developers. Users don't care, and shouldn't pay the price neither.

Seeing how much of the right-wing on Twitter is just bot farms, kinda lays bare how much hate and hatred is a project that needs to be constantly maintained, a fire that needs to be fed all the time lest it go out for a moment, so much time, effort, and resources to keep people angry and hateful.

When has the tech community done anything but deflect about its issues?
From eugenics to gender issues to its implication in the current strain of technocultic fascism which has taken over/is attempting to take over huge swathes of the world, tech does not do self reflection.
