Someone has sure already made this observation but the fact they can convert all those empty warehouses into prison camps means they could have converted them into housing, community centers, job training centers or, hell, libraries or schools all along. Itโ€™s always a matter of will not resources.

@MatteoGabriele - Human | AgentScan Score: 100/100 | 0 detection flags | 99 events analyzed

It looks like it was just a matter of time before AI agents began contributing to open-source projects. Since there's no way to flag them yet, I built an app that flags bot-like behavior using the GitHub API and an opinionated scoring system.

Hey Bluesky friends,

What UI patterns do you find the most complex or challenging to build or implement accessibly?

Browser developers are working on custom form controls ( `appearance:base`), the next giant task is looming: customisable input type=date/datetime/color pickers.

These are huge and have wildly varied UI. Send me your examples, I'd love to see them and build up a body of these pickers.

Sorta. Throbbing and transitioning effects can be distracting/disruptive for ADHD and other cognitive considerations. Removing it is also nice for folks who just want content quickly and with minimal fuss.

Evolving the Microsoft Inclusive Design website - Microsoft Design What we learned rebuilding the Microsoft Inclusive Design website with the communities we serve

I wrote about the redesign of the Microsoft Inclusive Design site (published under our team byline). One thing I wrote on is the risk of designing for diagnoses instead of for people.

In rebuilding the site, we focused on flexibility and agency.

Declarative Dialog Menu with Invoker Commands The one where I unpack the new CSS behind my menu

Invoker Commands feel like something the platform should have had decades ago. Comparing its functionality to how we traditionally have to toggle a dialog makes current practice seem straight-up absurd. dbushell.com/2026/02/12/d...

Notepad should not know what the internet is. If you have notepad talking to remote servers you're already like 10 steps into a "factors leading to" slide.

What the heck are they doing over there

Webspace Invaders ยท Matthias Ott Thereโ€™s something happening on the Web at the moment that almost feels like watching that old arcade game Space Invaders play out across our servers. Bots and scrapers marching in formation, attacking...

This is the same bot attack that nearly took down the A11y Project site last year. @matthiasott.com describes the problem in detail.

Wonder how the general public figuring out they can vibe-code single-purpose utility apps while simultaneously enduring the LMM-created outages will make a lot of companies behave, especially when it removes the need for the current rent-seeking suites of software.

The circular logic of our metrics We design what is familiar. The design patterns we adopt are the ones yelling at us the loudest.

99% of stakeholder "ideas" is just copying a feature they saw on a competitor's product. And the features they notice most are the ones that yell at their users the loudest.

Now all software (not just consumer apps, but also metrics dashboards) yells at you, and trains you to attend to its yelling.
