Disasterous choice by ALA
18.10.2025 16:10 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0@amlibraryassoc.bsky.social you want to explain why during a time of unprecedented threat to libraries you laid off our long serving OIF director Deborah Caldwell Stone?
Seriously: what is the strategy here? Are you TRYING to weaken us? ๐คฌ
This is literally the worst time to lose Deborah Caldwell Stone. We need all the intellectual freedom support we can get. What the actual fuck indeed.
18.10.2025 16:01 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 1 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Excuse me what now
16.04.2025 20:34 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Thank YOU for closing out the conference with a bang! I will be thinking about how to incorporate thoughts about data citizenship into my info lit classes with first year students for the next few months. As you said, education is the way. ๐
16.04.2025 19:27 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0@missoliviareads.bsky.social also I forgot to show you this picture of the aftermath of your innovative salt shaker technique last night lol
16.04.2025 18:42 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I had a wonderful time at #LILAC25! I learned so much from all the wonderful presentations AND got to meet so many lovely people. @elinorcarmi.bsky.social was right: lilac has a kinder vibe than other conferences. Fingers crossed I get to attend again soon! โค๏ธ to all and THANK YOU to the organizers!!
16.04.2025 18:31 โ ๐ 7 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Yes! I had so much fun!! So glad I got the chance to chat with you. ๐ And of course, dance!
16.04.2025 09:14 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0You donโt have to be a librarian to report attempted book banning in your community. Donโt assume that somebody else has done it. Donโt worry that it will be a duplicate report; the ALA OIF will sort that out. Silence is complicity. Report book challenges!
07.04.2025 21:33 โ ๐ 15 ๐ 12 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Anyway Iโm sure people more involved in the fandom and book communities have more incisive takes, but this has been on my mind all day. At least when a Hollywood mogul is revealed to be evil, no one ever assumed him to be kind. 5/5
14.01.2025 00:23 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0But thatโs the thingโ he always seemed so genuine. I wish we knew where the line was drawn between his outward persona and the awfulness inside. Was it all an act? Or is he *somehow* both a genuinely kind man and someone who has the capacity to hurt vulnerable women in such terrible ways? 4/?
14.01.2025 00:22 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0At both events, gaiman was effortlessly charming. He didnโt seem to be trying at all. If he had been a little more slick or a little more glib, this news of his true nature maybe wouldnโt have come as so much of a shock. Like, โaha! we KNEW he was too smooth to be genuine!โ 3/?
14.01.2025 00:18 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Plus there is a child involved!
But it wasnโt just the facts presented. I was never a gaiman super fan, but I did go to two events where he was a featured speaker. At one event, I stood in line with a friend who wanted his autograph. 2/?
@lilashapiro.bsky.socialโs neil gaiman article troubled me deeply. Part of the reason why is obviousโ gaimanโs abuse of those women was nothing less than monstrous, and reading about how Amanda Palmer enabled his abuse while also financially mistreating at least one woman was enraging. 1/?
14.01.2025 00:15 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 2 ๐ 0Wild how her first response when she heard their son was present while gaiman was abusing that poor woman was โwell did he have headphones on??โ
13.01.2025 20:04 โ ๐ 16 ๐ 1 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I met Neil gaiman v briefly at a reading years ago. He was exactly as the article said: charming, adorably awkward. I remember the crowd (mostly young women) cheered when he asked the ppl in line to allow a woman with a cane to go first. Truly boggles the mind how monsters can hide in plain sight.

11.01.2025 03:09 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Today I had to go to the DMV. I also have a cold. Boo. The DMV lady thanked me for wearing a mask when I was clearly sick. But there were SO MANY other people there who were also sneezing/coughing and NOT wearing masks.
Have we learned NOTHING?
If you are sick, wear a mask! Protect others!
TEXAS!!! #hookem Our kicker missed twice, but I forgive him because his name is Bert and he has a glorious mop of orange-red curls ๐งก #texasfootball #longhorns

28.12.2024 02:04 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0My dad was a Master & Commander dad. We mustโve watched it ten times together over holiday breaks. Sometimes I would come home and he would already have it on, waiting. He died three years ago. I still havenโt been able to watch M&C. ๐ Enjoy every discussion, save every voicemail, savor every hug!
