Came out this summer I think? I like to approach her work knowing as little as possible, so I've avoided reading reviews and even the cover copy. I just wanna dive in like a babe in the woods.

The only downside is I like to dog ear my books, but this one is too pretty to mess up.

Also picked up some recent queer YA books. Gave enthusiastically positive reviews to Costumes for Time Travelers by AR Capetta and Among Ghosts by Rachel Hartman. Sky on Fire and Titan of thr Stars by EK Johnston are on my TBR.

I don't usually get too worked up about book covers, but this edition of RF Kuang's Katabasis is stunning. Picked this up at my local indie bookstore recently and wow!

The "slurs for robots" ai conversation is unreal and unserious... AND i saw the skits on tiktok people (like huge accounts like Stanzi) are doing where they pretend to subject robots and ai chat bots to Jim Crow era racism (segregation in public spaces, mostly) so it does leave a WEIRD taste on my 👅

What we do know is that the plaintiff can refile in NZ at her discretion. This doesn't mean that anyone found her claims unsubstantiated or that Gaiman successfully introduced any doubt into the proceedings; it just means that somebody made a really bad choice of fillings.

Two parallels here: one is the cancelation of food aid for USAID which was provided by US farmers. The other is the broad attack on SNAP which already means more people will need food banks that Trump is also undermining. It is an assault on our he most vulnerable.

I don't know. I've never turned my hobbies into a grind. I just do them because I enjoy them. I pop an audiobook on and puzzle for an hour, or I cross-stitch while watching TV. I don't learn anything or focus too much, I just vibe with it. I never cross the streams between hobby and special interest
